The field is white unto harvest, but the laborers are few: Luke 10:2; Jn 4:35
1. Educate yourself to the potential threats and their potential local effects.
2. Educate yourself to the solutions and the type of people and resources you will have to organize to deal with the local emergency or local effects of a national emergency.
3. Educate yourself to what local, state, and federal government emergency services are doing to prepare and their response capability. The Federal Government has initiated several citizen volunteer organizations that KRU's can get active with. These are
"Citizen Corps",
"Ready.gov", and
"Medical Corp" programs. Get involved with your local unit and share the Vitamin C information.
4. To find other likeminded citizens to join your KRUnit, start with friends and co-workers. Some may agree with your perspective.
5. Email this website to those on your mailing list who may share your concerns.
6. Speak to your local church and civic groups and organize them.
7. Call in on talk radio and express concern for local and national disaster readiness and give your phone number as a contact person for local KRU organization.
8. When you have a functioning KRUnit, approach local county government and medical organizations to interface with their preparedness plans.
9. For KRUnits planning to or needing to evacuate certain areas, make travel and re-location plans with KRUnits in the area you will be moving too.
10. Remember, a one-eyed man is king in the land of the blind.
Summary:
Experience has shown that having a plan is better than no plan. It is easier to modify a plan to fit circumstances than develop one on the fly without knowing what resources you have available.
Face these facts now, in a worst case scenario only those who are prepared are going to survive. In disasters of total destruction such as Katrina, even the local government and law enforcements breaks down until outside resources are brought in to help. You saw it, many experienced it. In an unchecked killer flu pandemic there will not be enough resources to deal with the panic and casualties. In a nuclear attack/event or other terrorist acts, KRUnits and your base of operations will effectively be sanctuaries of law and order because you will be prepared to deal with any eventuality.
